NCT's TAEIL sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison for sex crimes
TAEIL (real name: Moon TAEIL, 31), a former member of the boy group "NCT", was arrested in court. At 2 p.m. on the 10th, the 26th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court issued a criminal complaint regarding sexual assault.
On the same day, the court sentenced TAEIL and the other three men to three years and six months in prison each.
The court also ordered him to hand over his personal information to a third party, complete a 40-hour sexual assault treatment program, notify her that his personal information will not be made public, and restrict her from working for child and youth-related organizations for five years.
The court said, "The defendant took advantage of the fact that the victim was drunk and unable to resist, and
"The victim is a foreign woman and is believed to have suffered great mental distress," he said, but added, "However, this is the defendant's first offense and he has admitted to the crime.
"Taeil was given a prison sentence in the first instance and was immediately taken into custody in court. The court said, "We will reduce the sentence in consideration of the fact that he agreed with the victim and did not wish to be punished."
"We have determined that there is a risk that he may flee, and so we are issuing an arrest warrant," he said. He then asked, "Do you have any comments regarding the arrest?" Taeil, standing in court, quietly answered, "Yes."
Previously, on June 12th of last year, TAEIL was handed over to the prosecution for sexually assaulting a drunk woman together with two acquaintances. In the aftermath of this incident, TAEIL was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison for violating the group's 100% tax evasion policy in October 2024.
He left the group NCT and terminated his exclusive contract with SM Entertainment.
