South Korean President Lee Jae-myung's approval rating hits lowest since taking office
The results of a public opinion poll announced on the 11th showed that South Korean President Lee Jae-myung's approval rating has hit its lowest level since taking office.
South Korean polling agency Realmeter conducted a survey of voters aged 18 and over from the 4th to the 8th of this month.
According to a survey conducted in the first week of August, President Lee's approval rating was 56.5%, while disapproval was 38.2% and 5.2% were "not sure."
President Lee's approval rating has fallen by 6.8 percentage points from 63.3% in the previous survey (5th week of July).
Regarding the results of this survey, Realmeter said, "His approval rating has dropped significantly, falling to the 50% range for the first time in six weeks," and "it is the lowest since he took office."
Meanwhile, Realmeter conducted a survey of 1,006 voters aged 18 and over on the 7th and 8th of this month to gauge party support, with the ruling Democratic Party of Korea at 48.4%, followed by the main opposition People's Party.
The People's Power Party recorded 30.3%. Realmeter reported, "The ruling party's approval rating has plummeted, falling below 50% for the first time in seven weeks," and "The People's Power Party's approval rating has risen, reaching 30% for the first time in six weeks."
In the previous survey, the ruling party recorded 54.5% support, while the People's Power Party recorded 27.2%.
This was followed by the Fatherland Reform Party at 4.0%, the New Reform Party at 3.1%, and the Progressive Party at 1.4%.
The figure was 8.4%.
