President Lee attends UN General Assembly... presides over open debate as Security Council President = South Korea

The South Korean presidential office said, "President Lee Jae-myung will attend a high-level meeting of the United Nations General Assembly to be held in New York from the 23rd of this month."
He will be the first South Korean president to directly preside over an open debate of the UN Security Council as its president.
A spokesperson for the South Korean presidential office said at a press conference on the 2nd, "President Lee will strengthen solidarity with the international community through high-level meetings.
"We plan to carry out a variety of diplomatic activities to enhance Korea's status as a globally responsible power and to strengthen its position as a globally responsible power," the spokesperson added.
The high-level meeting of the UN General Assembly is held every year for one week from the third Tuesday of September, and is attended by the heads of 193 member states.
The UN General Assembly is the world's largest multilateral diplomatic forum, attended by top leaders. The spokesperson said, "President Lee will deliver a keynote speech at this UN General Assembly. In his 15-minute speech, he will discuss various issues, including the Korean Peninsula issue.
He will talk about the basic diplomatic direction of the South Korean government."
