Singer Jung DONG WOO-won has been referred to the prosecution on suspicion of driving without a license. According to a media report on the 11th, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office recently indicted Jung DONG WOO-won on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (driving without a license).
Prior to this, in 2023, Jung DONG WOO-won was arrested for driving a vehicle without a license when he was a minor at the age of 16 in Hadong, Gyeongnam.
16 is the age when you cannot obtain a driver's license. In response to this, in March, Jung DONG WOO Won received a private message from three people who had seized a cell phone containing a video of him driving a truck.
The three people who threatened Jung DONG WOO demanded 500 million won (approximately 52 million yen) on the condition that they keep the matter a secret.
Jung DONG WOO received threats and lost over 100 million won (approximately 10 million yen) before getting his cell phone back.
The three were arrested after Jung DONG WOO Won's management office filed a complaint, and Jung DONG WOO Won was investigated by the police as the victim. However, it was revealed that Jung DONG WOO Won had been driving without a license.
If Jung DONG WOO-won's unlicensed driving charges are proven, he faces a maximum of 10 months in prison or a fine of 3 million won (approximately 310,000 yen) under Article 82 of the Road Traffic Act.
