Actor Kim Sung Cheol, 'Choel' returns after three years... Behind-the-scenes poster shots for musical 'Death Note' unveiled

South Korean actor Kim Sung Cheol is set to return to audiences after three years, reprising his role as L in the musical Death Note.

On the 2nd, his agency STORY J COMPANY released several behind-the-scenes poster shots of Kim Sung Cheol portraying L, the world-renowned detective shrouded in mystery who confronts the genius high school student Yagami Light in the musical Death Note.

In the released photos, Kim Sung Cheol stares intently at the camera with sharper, more defined features, exuding a powerful aura. His tousled hairstyle, stretched-neck white T-shirt, gaze shifting from unease to conviction, and delicate hand and foot movements all draw the eye with a high level of synchronicity, as if he had stepped straight out of the comic book. Particularly noteworthy is his adept use of L's signature props, such as candy and teacups, which he employed freely to elevate the poster's quality.

In a previously released interview clip, Kim Sung Cheol revealed, "I overlooked L's manner of speaking in the previous season. Upon revisiting the original work, I noticed extensive use of honorific speech, so I plan to perform using honorifics this time."

Meanwhile, the musical 'Death Note', based on the Japanese manga of the same name, depicts the breathless battle of wits between genius high school student Light, who obtains the shinigami's notebook 'Death Note' to condemn society's evils and realise justice, and the renowned detective L who pursues him. It is currently running to acclaim at Seoul's D-CUBE LINK ARTS CENTER. Kim Sung Cheol will take to the stage for the first time on 6th January next year.
