At the 5th Republic of Korea Charity Donation Awards, BTS became the first Korean singer to receive the Presidential Award. The awards ceremony, which began in 2021, recognizes those who contribute to society through donations and social contributions.
The event is held to honor individuals and organizations who have delivered hope and courage, and to share good deeds and spread a mature donation culture.
It is very rewarding to know that the 'MYSELF' campaign has had a positive impact on society. This award is a great honor for us personally.
Rather than being a gift, I think of it as encouragement to all of you who share the message of "Love yourself and love the world."
"I would like to dedicate this honor to all the ARMYs (fans) who have supported us. I want to continue to be a BTS that can contribute to warm and healthy change," he said.
In 2017, BTS became the first K-pop artist to sign an official partnership with the Korean Committee for UNICEF, and
MYSELF campaign, and has continued to create positive change both domestically and internationally through ongoing donations and social messages.
Meanwhile, BTS is teasing a large-scale world tour along with the release of a new album next spring, and is preparing to reunite with fans around the world.
