On the 13th, Netflix Korea's YouTube channel posted a post titled "Collecting Unrevealed Behind-the-Scenes and Answers to Fan Questions | Maggie Kang X"
Ahn HyoSeop Behind-the-Scenes Interview | K-Pop Girls! Demon Hunters |
A video titled "Netflix" was uploaded.
The video features director Maggie Kang and Ahn HyoSeop meeting to create "K-POP Girls! Demon Hunters" (hereinafter referred to as "Kedaha").
The video features behind-the-scenes footage of the film "The Last Jedi." When asked about the casting process, director Maggie Kang said, "The casting process took a very long time and was very difficult.
In particular, the female character needed to be able to perform comedic roles and also needed to be Korean. Casting was not easy due to various conditions, so to be honest, we even went as far as to hold an open casting session.
However, the right people did not come forward and the casting was delayed, but fortunately, I was able to find the perfect people I needed, so I was very fortunate."
Ahn HyoSeop said, "There are several reasons why I participated in 'Kedaehan,' but above all, it was the heartfelt letter (sent to me) by director Maggie Kang.
It was out of warm interest," he said, revealing that director Maggie Kang personally sent him a letter to cast him.
He continued, "I was very moved to participate, but I was also very happy that they cast me.
When asked why he chose Ahn Hyo-seop, director Maggie Kang replied, "I think you, sitting here, are JIN WOO himself. You are JIN WOO himself."
Director Maggie Kang further emphasized, "When I talked about casting Jin Woo, the first thing that came to mind was that he had to be fluent in English.
I thought that if we cast many people who are active in Korea, the film would be more recognized as a representative film of Korea.
That was important to me, and when I was looking for someone like that, I happened to be watching the TV series "Office Matchmaking" (in which Ahn HyoSeop appeared).
In one scene, Kang Tae-mu (Ahn Hyo-Seop) answers the phone and speaks in English. When I saw that, I immediately decided, 'Jin Woo is the one,'" he said, referring to Ahn Hyo-Seop as Jin Woo.
He revealed the secret story behind the casting, to which Ahn HyoSeop responded, "I'm glad you're doing English," drawing laughter.
