Asiana plan not to sell emergency exit seats for the time being

Asiana Airlines announced on May 26th that it will not sell seats next to the emergency exit for the time being if the seats next to the emergency exit are not fully occupied on the model that caused the emergency door opening accident.

According to Asiana Airlines on the 27th, it was found that the aircraft of Asiana Airlines OZ8124, which landed with the emergency exit open due to the sudden behavior of passengers, was an Airbus A321-200.

The seat where the passenger who caused the accident sat is the "31A" seat of this model.

A passenger sitting in 31A was close enough to reach the emergency exit door while seated, and could open the emergency exit door without unfastening his seatbelt.

For seats close to other emergency exits, there are only two seats in the same area and some distance from the exit. However, only in the 31A area, three seats were arranged side by side, and the 31A seat was in close contact with the emergency exit.

Originally, emergency exit seats were reserved for healthy adults to help crews in times of danger. However, in reality, it has been thought of as a seat that anyone can sit in as long as they pay.
