According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, between 11:52 a.m. and 1:49 p.m. on the same day, four Chinese military aircraft and four Russian military aircraft entered KADIZ in Namhae and Donghae in sequence and then left. However, there was no airspace violation.
"The South Korean military identified Chinese and Russian military aircraft before they entered KADIZ, deployed Air Force fighter jets, and implemented tactical measures to prepare for contingencies," the Joint Chiefs of Staff explained.
Until now, China and Russia have allowed their military aircraft to enter KADIZ for reasons such as joint patrols or joint training. On the same day, China's Ministry of Defense announced through its official WeChat channel that "China and Russia conducted the sixth joint air strategic patrol in the East Sea (Sea of Japan) and East China Sea-related airspace on the 6th based on the annual cooperation plan of the two militaries."
Prior to this, military aircraft from both China and Russia entered KADIZ in May and January last year. KADIZ is an arbitrary line set up to identify and respond to approaching military aircraft in a country's airspace at an early stage. Normally, military aircraft that enter another country's air defense identification zone submit their flight plan to the country in advance and notify them of their position at the time of entry.
