"He hid chronic illness"... Costco representative verbally abusive to deceased employee at funeral = Korea
A month has passed since the death of a cart management worker at Costco Hanam, but the company has not yet issued an apology. The bereaved family even claimed that the CEO of Costco uttered abusive words at the funeral home at the time of the funeral.

On July 27th, SBS reported an interview with the bereaved family of Kim Dong-ho (29), who died of heatstroke while managing a shopping cart in a parking lot on June 19th.

Kim lost consciousness and collapsed while working in the parking lot of a mart around 7:00 p.m.

It was two weeks ago that Mr. Kim, a full-time Costco accountant, changed his job to managing carts in the parking lot.

Kim was rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance crews but died about two hours later.

Kim's final cause of death, as revealed by the hospital, was "excessive dehydration due to embolism and hyperthermia."

While managing the cart, Kim said he walked a maximum of 43,000 steps a day, or 26km.

Kim Gil-sung, the deceased's father, said, "He (My son) said, "If I left, the rest of my colleagues would be very tired, so I couldn't leave early." He came and said, "I had a chronic illness, I had a chronic illness. But he started working, hiding the illness."

His family said Kim had a normal health check before he was placed in the parking lot.

The company responded to a request from the bereaved's family to provide surveillance camera footage for workers' compensation claims, saying, "It will take two to three weeks to prepare the footage."

Frustrated, the bereaved family also sent a petition to Costco's US headquarters.

Kim Gil-sung, the father, said, "I think someone should clearly take responsibility. Not responding may be the best way for the company, but it means killing our bereaved family twice or three times."
