Vice Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Korea "Test results for marine radioactivity are 'safe'"
In South Korea, as a result of the marine radioactivity test conducted from July 24th, it was found that the concentration of cesium and tritium was all below the standard value.

On 9 September, Park Sung-hoon, vice-minister of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea, said at a press conference held at the government office in Seoul regarding the discharge of "radioactive treated water" from the Fukushima No.1 nuclear power plant, "Cesium and tritium in the domestic coastal waters and distant and near-shore waters have all been confirmed as safe levels. The government has confirmed that the levels of cesium and tritium along the coast of Japan and in distant and nearby waters are all safe.

He continued, "We provide the results of radioactivity analysis in the form of three-level traffic lights, 'safe', 'interest', and 'danger', in an easy-to-understand manner."

However, due to the northward movement of Typhoon No. 6, the collection work for marine radioactivity inspection is currently suspended.

Vice Minister Park said, "We plan to re-enforce the measures as soon as the weather conditions stabilize."
