Chinese media restrains “Japan-U.S.-Korea summit”…”Actual target is China”
Ahead of the Japan-U.S.-South Korea summit to be held at Camp David in the United States on August 18th (local time), media representatives of the Chinese authorities said, "Trilateral cooperation between Japan, the United States, and South Korea will contribute to regional peace and stability. It's something that will destroy it."

On the 15th, China's official English-language newspaper, the Global Times, reported that “North Korean leader Kim Jung Eun's visit to a munitions factory was a response to trilateral military cooperation between Japan, the United States, and South Korea."

On the 11th and 12th, General Secretary Kim gave on-site guidance to a tactical missile production factory and other facilities, stating, "Our military will thoroughly prepare for overwhelming military strength and solid readiness to deal with any war at any time. We must therefore discourage our enemies from using force, and if they come upon us, we must destroy them."

The Global Times quoted a Chinese expert as saying, "The US's strengthening of military cooperation with Japan and South Korea is an attempt to create a small NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) in the Asian region, which threatens the peace and stability of the region. The whole world should be vigilant against such moves."

Chinese military expert Song Zhongping told the Global Times, "The United States and its Asian allies are building a NATO-like joint defense system to strengthen their strength in military command, early warning, and missile technology." he said. He went on to say, "Although such moves are superficially aimed at North Korea, the actual target is China. The situation in the Pacific is going to intensify."

Professor Li Haidong of the China Academy of Diplomatic Affairs told the Global Times, "Through the cooperation between Japan, the United States and South Korea, China and Russia will strengthen their strategic cooperation."

He continued, "China and Russia must strengthen strategic coordination and cooperation in various fields, and their content must be substantive." But we must be prepared to deal with emergencies and military conflicts inspired by the United States and its allies."
