Japan, US and Australia "controls the expansion of China" in the Pacific island nations = Korean coverage

The Defense Ministers of Japan, the United States, and Australia have decided to strengthen tripartite military training by striving to take concrete and substantive measures together to ensure the security and stability of the Indo-Pacific region.

They also denounced North Korea's armed demonstration and reaffirmed the UN Security Council's willingness to enforce the resolution against North Korea.

Japan's Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi, US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin, and Australia's Defense Minister Richard Mars adopted a joint statement at a trilateral meeting held in Singapore on June 11th (local time).

The 3 urged Russia to suspend its attack on Ukraine and promptly withdraw its troops, saying it "opposes actions and coercion that undermine the rule-based international system and destabilize the situation."

They also expressed concern about the security environment in the East and South China Seas, pointing out that "we strongly oppose any coercive and one-sided actions to change the status quo and increase tensions in the region."

In particular, he said, "I strongly oppose China's illegal maritime claims and actions against international law in the South China Sea."

In addition, the defense ministers of the 3 countries expressed concern that the security agreement signed between China and the Solomon Islands would promote China's military base. The three said, "We have decided to deepen cooperation with the Pacific island nations in order to support a safe and prosperous Pacific region where sovereignty is respected. We will strengthen cooperation with these countries and be regional. We will continue to expand our involvement."

On the other hand, the 3 parties also said to North Korea that they would "condemn the development of illegal nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles that destabilize the situation", and "concrete efforts to deal with the serious threat that North Korea poses to the region."

The 3 countries will continue to increase and strengthen training in the three countries to strengthen mutual operability and readiness, while promoting coordinated responses to regional disasters and crises and building forces at sea. We decided to strengthen our cooperation.
