North Korea's new "Kids YouTuber" is here ...Shows fluent English
A kid who introduces Harry Potter's books in fluent English and eats shaved ice alongside her friend. At first glance, this seemingly mediocre child is North Korea's new "Kids YouTuber."

On July 19th, the appearance of a girl "Song A" living in Pyongyang was revealed on the "Sary Violine" channel of the video posting site YouTube. The video included the story of Son-A overcoming the hot summer while eating shaved ice.

In the video, Sung Ah said in fluent English while eating shaved ice with a friend, "If you come to Pyongyang, I will introduce you to the most delicious shaved ice in the country."

In addition, "Let's meet at Munsu Water Park next time," teaser the following video. Munsu Water Park is a luxury water park that North Korea cites as a representative achievement during the Kim Jung Eun era.

Song A, who opened the channel for the first time on January 27th, has posted 4 videos to date, showing her daily life. The channel introduction section says that she is 11 years old, a 5th grader, and Pyongyang is a very beautiful city. As of July 21st, there are about 38,000 subscribers.

In a video posted on April 26th, she said, "You may be wondering how I am so good at English, but I learned English from my mother from a very young age." She went on to say, "My favorite book is Harry Potter, written by JK Rowling."

On July 20th (local time), US North Korean media NK News quoted Tae Young-ho, a member of the "People Power Party," as saying that Sung-Ah worked with the North Korean embassy in London. It reported that she was the daughter of official Lim Jun-hyuk. He also reported that Son-Ah's great-grandfather was former Marshal Li Ursol of the North Korean People's Army who died in 2015.

It seems that North Korea's active development of kids YouTubers like Song A is a strategy to avoid Google's YouTube account suspension. In fact, since North Korean residents are prohibited from connecting to the Internet, it is estimated that all of these channels will be produced with the intervention of the Workers' Party of Korea's Promotional Incitement Department.

Prior to this, YouTube has suspended its account due to violations of the rules when North Korea posted explicit and warlike images through the external advertising media "Korea Today" and "Our Brother People".
