US White House "no comment" on Korean President Yoon's remarks controversy
The US White House said it would not mention South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol's controversial remarks, saying that US-South Korea relations remain solid.

According to the Washington Post, a spokesman for the White House National Security Council (NSC) issued a statement on September 22nd (local time) saying, "I will not mention the 'hot mic' remarks."

"Our relationship with South Korea is strong and growing," he said, adding, "U.S. President Joe Biden considers President Yoon to be a core ally", the spokesperson added.

Earlier, on 21st, local time in the United States, President Yoon participated in the Global Fund 7th Financial Pledge Conference hosted by US President Biden in New York on 21st.

In the news footage released by multiple broadcasting companies, when President Yoon left the venue, he said to Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin, "If these **s do not approve in the National Assembly, Biden will lose face."

After that, Kim Eun-hye, chief public affairs officer of the presidential office, clarified that the remarks were not aimed at President Biden or the US Congress, but expressed concern about the South Korean opposition party.

Kim said, "(Regarding the remarks), it is not the US Congress but the South Korean giant opposition party, and not Biden."

Regarding the background to his remarks, "At this meeting, President Yoon promised to provide 100 million dollars to eliminate the disease of underdeveloped nations. He told Minister Park Jin that if we fail to break the straitjacket and fulfill our minimum obligations to the international community, we will lose face to the country."
