Minister of Unification of South Korea: "Unification is the ultimate task that we must accomplish"

South Korea's Minister of Unification, Kwon Yong-se, said on December 12th, "Under the firm vision of unification based on the basic order of liberal democracy, we will gather the people's will to unite and create a unified power."

"Unification is the ultimate task that we must accomplish" Kwon said in a video congratulatory speech at the 2022 National Octagonal Members' Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony held at the Komodo Hotel in Busan on the same day.

"For our nation to achieve sustainable development and greater prosperity, we must overcome the abnormal divisions that bind us," Kwon said.

"Nevertheless, North Korea has turned its back on the nation’s earnest desire for peaceful reunification, threatens the peace with nuclear weapons and missiles, suppresses the human rights of its residents, and darkens the future of the Korean Peninsula. South Korea's will to become one is even more important," he said.

"The Yoon Seo-gyul administration will do its utmost to achieve a virtuous cycle of North Korea's denuclearization and inter-Korean relations, and to establish true peace on the Korean Peninsula" Kwon added.
