Sam Okia caused a commotion yesterday when he pointed out that a high school students dressed as a black man and took a graduation photo mimicking a traditional funeral in Ghana. His appearance in the JTBC "Abnormal Meeting" in the past and his gestures to undermine oriental people attracted attention again, leading to racial discrimination affair.
Below is the full text of Sam Okia's apology.
I am sorry that the photos and texts I posted were controversial.
I didn't mean to scare the high school students. I tried to express my opinion, but I'm sorry that it was overly frequent and I posted photos without the permission of the students. I respect the privacy of high school students. I had a problem in this regard.
As for the part I wrote in English, it does not mean that education in Korea is bad. I apologize for the misleading expressions. It wasn't a reference to Korean education, but it was unavoidable if misunderstood.
I also didn't know that Teakpop was a bad expression for K-POP. If I knew it, I didn't even add a hashtag. I thought about it as a short circuit.
I have been cheering in Korea for a long time, but I think that this action was imprudent. I'm sorry again. I will do my best so that I can continue to learn.
