South Korean prime minister calls for restoration of Japan-South Korea relations and reconsideration of grain control law
South Korean Prime Minister Han Duk-soo said on Aug. 6th that the restoration of Japan-South Korea relations and the request for a reconsideration of the Grain Control Law are decisive actions for the sake of the people and the national interest.

Prime Minister Han explained the National Assembly's questions to the government that had been held until the previous day (5th) at the meeting of ministers related to national affairs held at the government building in Seoul in the morning.

Prime Minister Han said, "I want you to be especially careful in communicating with the public so that the purpose and essence of the issue will not be misunderstood by the public even in the relevant departments. I would like each department to actively reflect on the constructive policy alternatives that have been proposed."

Prior to this, questions to the government focused on Japan-Korea relations and grain control laws.

When asked about the recovery of Japan-South Korea relations, Prime Minister Han said, "We are stuck in the past and have not taken a step forward. The foundation has been prepared for us to move in the desired direction."

He also stressed that the Grain Control Law is "not helpful for those involved in agriculture," and that the request for reconsideration is appropriate.
