21 years after the Japan-North Korea Pyongyang Declaration, no progress is expected on the abduction issue

The 17th of this month marks 21 years since the first Japan-North Korea summit meeting in which North Korea admitted to abducting Japanese nationals. Five victims have returned to the country, but there are still 12 victims whose safety is unknown even though the government has recognized them.
