South Korea's birth rate rises for the first time in nine years, but it's unclear whether this will lead to a sustainable recovery

On the 26th of this month, the Korea National Statistical Office announced that the total fertility rate (the number of children a woman will have in her lifetime, provisional value) for 2024 will be 0.75. This is a slight increase from the previous year (0.72), which was the lowest on record.
