On the afternoon of the 10th, Air China Flight CA403, which was heading from Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, to Singapore, caught fire in its left engine and had to make an emergency landing at Singapore's Changi International Airport.
Around 4pm (local time) on the 10th, just before flight CA403 arrived in Singapore, smoke was observed coming from the forward cargo hold and toilet. Flight CA403 arrives at Changi International Airport
The plane requested an emergency landing and made an emergency landing on the third runway of Changi International Airport at around 4:15 p.m. A fire was confirmed to have started in the left engine of the aircraft, and the fire was extinguished by around 4:25 after landing.
It was extinguished. All 146 passengers and nine crew members were evacuated safely after landing. Nine of the passengers suffered smoke inhalation and minor injuries such as scratches during the evacuation and received treatment.
Ta. Changi Airport's third runway was temporarily closed and operations resumed around 7pm. As a result of this, some flights reportedly had their landing locations changed to airports in Indonesia.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
