Smoke erupts from the upper section of a train at Geumjeong Station on Line 1...More than 200 passengers evacuate - South Korea's Gyeonggi Province
Smoke rose from the upper section of the Cheonan-bound Line 1 express train that was stopping at Geumjeong Station in Gunpo City, Gyeonggi Province, causing a commotion as passengers evacuated.
According to the Gyeonggi Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters and KORAIL, a report was received on the 11th at around 3:28 p.m. saying, ``I am on an express train on Line 1, but there is smoke coming from the power lines.''
It was done. As a result, the fire department began taking measures, deploying 16 equipment including command vehicles and 47 personnel. Approximately 200 passengers were evacuated when the smoke broke out, resulting in no confirmed deaths to date.
It was reported that there was no damage. KORAIL assumed that an abnormality had occurred in the electrical supply equipment installed on the upper level of the train, causing the smoke to spread, and moved the train to a base station.
A KORAIL official said, ``Currently, there are no problems with train operations on the up and down lines at Katsui Station,'' and ``We plan to promptly determine the cause of the train failure.''
