US: ``If Russia and North Korea engage in arms deals, we will take measures to hold them accountable''

Regarding the summit meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jung Eun and Russian President Vladimir Putin, the United States said, ``We will not hesitate to hold accountable any arms deal that takes place.''
"We will take measures," he said, reiterating his tough stance. On the 12th (local time), a spokesperson for the U.S. State Department said at a press conference, ``We will closely monitor what happens,'' and ``if necessary, we will take responsibility.''

``This reflects the dire situation Russia has faced because of its invasion of Ukraine over the past year and a half,'' he said.

"We will continue to enforce these sanctions and will not hesitate to impose new sanctions as appropriate."
A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Defense also said at a press conference, ``We urge North Korea to honor its previous commitment not to provide weapons to Russia.''
"It will only prolong a necessary war."
