Gyeongju City, South Korea conducts “Special Inspection of Country of Origin Labeling of Marine Products”… Confirms compliance with ``Country of Origin Labeling Law” for 20 types of Japanese marine products

A special inspection of the country of origin labeling will be carried out from the 18th to December 5th.'' The special inspection targets 111 Japanese marine product dealers confirmed through the distribution history of imported marine products.
These include seafood restaurants. Gyeongju City will establish a cooperative system with the Pohang Branch of the Seafood Quality Control Agency and the Pohang Marine Police Station to intensively check compliance with the country of origin labeling law for 20 species.
Until now, Gyeongju City has designated and managed 15 species, mainly imported from Japan, such as live red sea bream, live scallops, and live sea squirt, as priority items.
In July of this year, five species (scallops, sea squirts, millet) will be subject to country of origin labeling at restaurants.
We have decided to additionally designate ``Bi・Buri・Kiguchi''. Through the first special inspection and regular inspections of general restaurants in the first half of this year, Gyeongju City detected a total of four cases of non-labeling of the origin of seafood products and imposed fines.
