South Korean Prime Minister Han Yeong-soo says, ``The people will decide and judge'' the dismissal proposal submitted by the Democratic Party of Korea.
On the 19th, Prime Minister Han Deok-soo announced that ``the people will make a decision and judge appropriately'' regarding the Democratic Party (opposition)'s promotion of the general understanding proposal.
At a press conference held at the government building in Seoul this morning, Prime Minister Han said, ``Politics is an unpopular mission to make the people happy and to solve the hardships of people's lives by helping them live well.''
At the very least, my true calling and mission is to work for the medium- to long-term development of the country and the happiness of the people." Prime Minister Han said, ``I started my public service in 1970, and it has now been about 50 years.
My philosophy is that we must do our best to improve the standard and all aspects of life, and that is how I have worked and will continue to work."
He went on to say, ``Naturally, politicians conduct politics with the people in mind.Although there may be political differences between us, we must do what we can for the sake of the people, for the sake of people's livelihood, and for the medium- to long-term development of the country.''
There should be no difference between what is and what is not." He added, ``The proposal for dismissal is for the Diet to make, and I think it will proceed according to the Constitution and laws.''
Prime Minister Han commented on the government's 13.9% cut in the major research and development (R&D) budget for next fiscal year compared to this year, saying, ``It is difficult to maintain a level of external confidence financially like this year.
"In a situation where we have no choice but to tighten our budget, it is important to consider how efficiently we use our R&D budget." Prime Minister Han currently has 1,254 government-supported R&D projects and 76,000 projects.
He explained, ``Because the budget was divided into too many projects, it was not possible to carry out efficient R&D projects. This needs to be sorted out.''
He also said, ``Some R&D budgets allocated by vested interests have been criticized even in the scientific community, so we have to drastically reorganize them.
We also need to increase the number of ways to do so." Prime Minister Han also discussed the possibility of changing the name of the ship ``Hong Beom-do,'' which was mentioned at a plenary session of the Special Committee on Budget and Settlement of the National Assembly earlier this month.
``The Minister of Defense said that the situation is such that the opinions of related organizations must be fully compiled and considered, so I agree with this,'' the statement said.
