It was unanimously selected by two member countries to host the event in 2025. The Korean Institute of Architects has held its third conference (Seoul) in 1988 and its 13th conference (Busan) in 2008.
The successful bid to host the 2016 conference gave the country an opportunity to raise its status as a powerhouse of architectural culture and to once again publicize the excellence of domestic architecture.
Seok Jeong-hoon, chairman of the Korean Architects Association, said, ``The bid to host the 21st Asian Architects Conference is an excellent example of successful cooperation between local governments and the private sector.''
"This will be a good opportunity to show the value of Incheon, a global cultural city where the past and future coexist in harmony."
