The South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a ministerial-level meeting between South Korea and Australia in Seoul, where they shared strategies for the Indian Ocean and Pacific region and exchanged opinions on a wide range of issues including major topics in the region.
It was revealed on the 25th. The Korean side was represented by Woo Jeong-yeop, Director of Foreign Affairs and Strategic Planning, and the Australian side was represented by Peter Sochek, Director-General of Partnerships, Department of Foreign Affairs, Transport and Trade (DFAT).
I attended as a representative. South Korea and Australia held a ministerial meeting on the Indian Ocean and Pacific region in Australia in 2022, and since South Korea announced its Indian Ocean and Pacific Strategy at the end of the year,
This is the first time that regional consultations have been held. As regional partners who share core values and interests, both sides are committed to expanding their involvement in regions such as ASEAN countries and South Asia, as well as promoting economic security and development.
Both sides shared the need to strengthen strategic cooperation and coordination in a variety of areas, including national security and security, and pledged to work closely together in the process of implementing strategies for the Indian Ocean and Pacific region.
The Government of the Republic of Korea continues to engage in various forms of collaboration with major partners within and outside the region in order to explore concrete cooperation measures to contribute to freedom, prosperity, and peace in the neighboring region and the international community.
The plan is to continue.
