A woman in her 20s who entered the airport from Thailand with methamphetamine hidden in her body has been sentenced to prison. 1st, Busan, South Korea, Western Support Criminal Division 1 (Chief Judge Lee Jin-jae)
announced that Mr. A, in his 20s, was sentenced to three years in prison and fined 5.1 million won (approximately 560,000 yen) after being brought to court on suspicion of violating the drug control law.
In March of this year, Mr. A was handed over to court on charges of entering Kime (Gimhae) International Airport from Thailand with approximately 75g of methamphetamine hidden in his body.
At that time, Mr. A and his accomplice Mr. B, whom he met in Thailand, wrapped 200g of methamphetamine in plastic wrap, put it in a condom, and then entered the country with it hidden in their genitals.
It was revealed that Mr. A decided to commit the crime after receiving a proposal from Mr. B, whom he met in Thailand, offering him a reward for transporting drugs.
The court stated, ``The act of importing narcotics from foreign countries has a high risk of spreading drug crimes within South Korea, so it must be strictly enforced.
The reason for the sentence was clarified, saying, ``We took into consideration the fact that the methamphetamine smuggled by Mr. A was likely distributed throughout the city through other accomplices.''
