Seoul University's Gwanak Arboretum, which has not been open to the public, will be open to the public for 26 days starting October 21st.
According to Anyang City in Gyeonggi-do, Mt. Gwanak in Anyang Art Park
Gwanak Arboretum, located at the foot of the mountain, has a total area of 1,554 hectares. Since December 2011, it has been affiliated with Seoul University.
The city has been working for several years to open Seoul University's Gwanak Arboretum to the public.
In April of last year, we partnered with the same school to cooperate in opening the school. Last year, we held exams twice on the 1st of spring and on the 10th of autumn, and once this year on the 23rd of spring.
Last year, the city of Seoul received many requests from citizens who visited the arboretum to extend the opening period.
After discussions with the university, we decided to open the park for 26 days this fall, from October 21st to November 15th, the longest period ever. During this exam period, a forest healing program (alotherapy) will be held on weekdays.
Experiences such as massage using mao oil) and woodworking experience (making a smartphone stand from cedar wood) will be held. Anyang City Mayor Choi Dae-ho said, ``Seoul University Gwanak Arboretum's trial opening will be changed from now on.
"This is an important step towards change and full opening."
