Japanese beer, which once faced a boycott in South Korea, is once again gaining popularity in South Korea this year. Approximately 22% of the beer imported into South Korea this year was Japanese beer.
Books have once again become the number one importer in the Korean beer market. According to trade statistics from the Korea Customs Service on the 2nd, the amount of Japanese beer imported from January to August this year was 36,523 tons, which is the total amount imported.
It ranked first, accounting for 21.9% of the total volume. By importing country, Japan is followed by China (32,153 tons), the Netherlands (29,243 tons), Poland (11,291 tons), and Germany.
(9,911 tons), the United States (9,876 tons), the Czech Republic (8,850 tons), and Ireland (8,705 tons).
Last year, the import volume of Japanese beer was 18,940 tons, which was only 8.8% of the total import volume, and China
(46,504 tons) and the third place after the Netherlands (5,125 tons). However, this year, the number increased by 238.4% compared to the same period last year.
On the other hand, in 2018, before the boycott of Japanese products, the amount of Japanese beer imported was 86,676 tons.
It was ranked number one, accounting for 24.2% of the total import volume.
