Busan city promotes the 2030 Busan Expo in Kenya
Vice Mayor Ahn Byung-yun of Busan attended the Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation Conference held in Nairobi, Kenya from the 4th to the 6th (local time) of this month.
It was announced on the 9th that they had been involved in negotiations to host the 2000 Busan Expo. The Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation Conference was sponsored by the National Assembly, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Korea Export-Import Bank, and others.
The event was held to promote economic cooperation between South Korea and Africa during the coronavirus pandemic and to publicize the 2030 Busan Expo bid to major African countries.
This year's conference included Kenyan President William Samoyei Ruto, as well as representatives from Expo International Affairs.
Director-General-level dignitaries from 25 African countries that are members of the Bureau of Internal Affairs and Communications (BIE) and two African institutions attended. Africa is one of the BIE member countries participating in the voting to host the World Expo, along with Europe.
Both are said to be the largest voting fields. Of the 181 BIE member countries, 49 are from Africa. Deputy Mayor Ahn met with Kenyan President Ruto along with National Assembly Speaker Kim Jinpyo and others.

In an interview with the Kenyan daily Nation, Deputy Mayor Anne said, ``Through cooperation in various fields such as science and technology, information and communications (IT), and agricultural technology, our country can become an economic powerhouse.
I would like to share the experience of exhibiting with Kenya." Deputy Mayor Ahn said, ``As the host site for Expo 2030 is scheduled to be decided in November, the city and government will cooperate with all agencies and organizations to work as one team to make the final bid.
We are waging an all-out war."
