South Korean first lady becomes honorary president of the Korean Cancer Society
On the 12th, South Korean First Lady Kim Kun-hee was inaugurated as the fourth honorary president of the Korean Cancer Association. This afternoon, at the presidential office in Seoul, the honorary chairman of the Korean Cancer Association was announced.
An official meeting was held. The Korean Cancer Society has so far welcomed the first lady as its honorary president, as well as presidents Kim Dae-jung, Roh Moo-hyun, and Lee Myung-bak.
The president's wife has been appointed honorary president. According to a press conference from the South Korean presidential office, Mrs. Kim said, ``It is an honor to participate in this meaningful work to prevent cancer in our society.''
