Quantum science and technology research center opens in Brussels, aims to promote joint research - South Korean Ministry of Science, Technology and Information Communication
On the 18th, South Korea's Ministry of Science, Technology and Information Communication held an opening ceremony in Brussels, Belgium, to announce that the Korea-Europe Quantum Science and Technology Cooperation Center has begun operations.
The establishment and operation of the regional centers will support everything from finding partners to collaborative projects so that Korean industry-academia-research institutions can collaborate with excellent research institutions.
This is being promoted as a project to strengthen international cooperation in the field of quantum technology. The center aims to act as a bridge and build a network for cooperation in the quantum field in each region.
Minister of Science, Technology, Information and Communications Lee Jung-ho said, ``Quantum science and technology is a cutting-edge interdisciplinary field. To create that ecosystem on a global scale, international cooperation and solidarity are most important.''
. "South Korea and Europe, which have mutually complementary strengths, will play a central role in this center in Europe, expanding joint research and personnel exchanges, and drawing out synergies to accelerate technology development."
In this regard, the department and the European Center are working on cooperative projects between countries, including joint research and personnel exchange in the field of quantum science and technology, targeting major European countries such as Switzerland, Austria, and the United Kingdom.
A South Korean delegation has been dispatched to the site since early October to hold discussions. We plan to promote deeper cooperation starting next year.
