Former Secretary-General Bang spoke at the auditorium of the Korea University Science Library in Seoul, South Korea on the 19th.

He said, ``That's a lie,'' and ``(those who died) died because of the tsunami.'' He continued, ``Nuclear power plants emit 10 grams of greenhouse gases per kilowatt hour.
In contrast, sunlight, which is considered a sustainable energy source, emits 57 grams,'' and emphasized that ``nuclear power is almost six times cleaner than sunlight.''
In June 2017, former President Moon stated, ``As of March 2016, a total of 1,368 people have died due to the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident.''
The Shima Nuclear Power Plant accident clearly demonstrated the fact that ``nuclear power plants are not safe, cheap, or eco-friendly.'' In addition, former Secretary-General Pan said that “radioactively treated water” at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant
Regarding the release into the ocean, he said, ``The IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) says it's safe, so I believe it.'' During the previous Bun administration, he was the chairman of the National Climate and Environment Council, which was under the direct control of the president.
Former Secretary-General Pan has been critical of policies to eliminate nuclear power, stating that ``carbon neutrality is impossible without nuclear power.''
