An accident involving five buses occurred in the outbound bus lane 392.8 kilometers from Kuzu JCT, leaving three people with serious injuries and 62 with minor injuries to their necks and lower backs.
It was confirmed that the buses involved in the accident were three commuter buses, one regional bus, and one chartered bus, with a total of 91 people on board, including the driver.
Fire authorities responded to the call and mobilized 37 equipment and 99 personnel to carry out rescue operations, with no fatalities to date.
Due to this accident, access to three of the five outbound lanes of the Gyeongbu Expressway was restricted for approximately two hours.
This caused massive traffic jams along the 8km stretch. Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident, assuming that the buses failed to slow down in a congested area and collided in a chain reaction.
