Candidate for Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff trades stocks during North Korean missile launch... Daughter has been involved in school violence in the past = South Korea
On the morning of the 15th, Kim Myung-soo, South Korea's candidate for chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, presided over a personnel hearing at the National Assembly National Defense Committee, stating, ``I am very clear about the President's leadership guidelines and the direction intentions of the Minister of National Defense (equivalent to the Ministry of Defense).''
With a ``leading mass'' and ``overwhelming ability,'' they will ``complete the mission with complete victory.'' The National Defense Commission will focus its investigation on candidate Kim's stock trading during work hours and involvement in his daughter's school violence.
Prior to this, Rep. Jeong Sung-ho of the opposition Democratic Party of Japan, who is a member of the National Defense Committee, revealed that candidate Kim had been interviewed a total of 46 times in the two years from January last year to the present, based on documents submitted by the Korea Exchange (KRX).
It was calculated that they traded stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). All trades during this period took place between 10-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m.
The problem is that North Korea launched a ballistic missile over Donghae (East Sea, Sea of Japan), and it has been confirmed that there were transactions on January 5th and 17th.
That's what happened. At the time, candidate Kim was working as a defense management reform promotion officer in the Defense Reform Office of the Ministry of National Defense. During his time as a naval operations commander, he was involved in stock market transactions seven times during his service.
I pulled it. Rep. Chung criticized it, saying, ``It is inappropriate for a military official responsible for national security to be absorbed in stock trading while on duty.'' Regarding this, candidate Kim said that North Korea launched a missile in January last year.
In relation to the accusation that he traded stocks in the situation where the missile was fired, he stated, ``When I was working as a defense management reform promotion official, I was not an operational personnel,'' and my position is ``I will work harder as a high-ranking public official.''
revealed. Suspicions were also raised that candidate Kim's daughter, who is in her 20s, took part in school violence while attending middle school. Representative Ki Dong-min of the Democratic Party of Korea is involved in the Busan Office of Education and the school concerned.
According to documents submitted by the School Violence Countermeasures Deliberation Committee, candidate Kim's daughter took part in a group assault while in middle school 11 years ago and was punished for school violence.
On April 27, 2012, a group of six people, including candidate Kim's daughter, assaulted a classmate in the school bathroom.
At the committee meeting held on May 8, one of the perpetrators was sentenced to ``campus service'' under measure 3, and the remaining five, including candidate Kim's daughter, were sentenced to ``campus service''.
The first measure was to issue a written apology to the victim student. Candidate Kim said, ``We are humbled that we were unable to take a closer look at the children, and we apologize to those who have been traumatized.''
However, he explained, ``My child was involved in a dispute between classmates, and I understand that the dispute was resolved through a genuine apology and acceptance by the parties involved.''
