LG Electronics develops transparent antenna for cars, to be unveiled at CES2024 = South Korean report

LG Electronics announced that it will collaborate with French automotive glass manufacturer Saint-Gobain Securit (hereinafter referred to as Saint-Gobain) to provide next-generation automotive transparent antennas.
The product will be unveiled at the consumer electronics IT trade show CES2024, which will be held in Las Vegas, USA from January 9, 2024.

developed a modular transparent antenna for pasting and inserting that can be applied to a variety of glass and automotive designs.
LG Electronics has a transparent antenna that is different from the existing shark fin antenna.
The company explains that its advantage is its scalability, allowing it to be attached to any type of automotive glass. The size can be adjusted according to the requirements of the finished vehicle manufacturer. This will enable fifth-generation (5G) mobile communications and satellite communications.
It is said that it will be able to provide an uninterrupted network by supporting a variety of communication standards such as satellite communications and satellite positioning systems (GPS), as well as increasing traffic.
There are no protrusions like shark fin antennas, allowing seamless curved designs in automobiles.
Another advantage is that It can also be installed on a glass roof. According to U.S. market research firm Strategy Analytics, LG Electronics had a global share of 23.8 in the telematics market in the July-September period this year.
It is estimated that it ranked first in terms of percentage.
