South Korean government sends 6 HYERI copters to support UN peacekeeping operations
The South Korean government will provide six retired 500MDHYERI copters this year to contribute to strengthening United Nations peacekeeping operations.
At the time of the United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial Conference held in Seoul in 2021, the South Korean government said,
The United Nations promised to provide 16 HYERI copters to the United Nations peacekeeping mission. The United States also promised equipment and transportation support for the 16 HYERI copters that the South Korean government had pledged to provide.
As a result, on the 21st, in cooperation with the US Department of State, six 500MDHYERI copters, which were retired this year, were transferred from the Aircraft Maintenance Group of the General Maintenance Unit, which is affiliated with the Chinhae Army Munitions Command.
Transport to the United States has begun via Busan Port. Once the HYERI copter arrives in the United States, it will undergo maintenance procedures and be transferred to Kenya.
Kenya will consult with the United Nations Secretariat and dispatch the HYERI Copter Unit, which operates 500 MDHYERI Copters, to the United Nations Mission.
It seems to be a thing. The South Korean government said, ``The provision of the HYERI copter is a sign of our commitment to promoting international peace and security as Japan prepares to become a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council in 2024-2025.''
This shows that Korea and the United States are expanding their cooperation to the entire world, as well as their willingness to contribute."
We will further expand our contribution to promoting international peace and security, including through UN peacekeeping operations."
