In South Korea, a man in his 30s was arrested by police after he made a comment on an internet broadcast saying he was going to do a terrorist attack on an airplane.
On the 25th, the Cyber Investigation Division of the Gyeonggi-do Southern Police Agency reported that
A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of obstructing official duties through fraudulent means. At around 8:20 p.m. on the 22nd of this month, Suspect A was interviewed by the facilitator (BJ) on an Internet broadcast.
"I'll be boarding a plane from Jeju (Jeju) to Incheon (Incheon) at 11 o'clock tonight," he said, but he said, "I'm going to terrorize the plane at 10 o'clock."
He is accused of making comments. Citizens who were watching this broadcast reported the above comment to the police, and the Cyber Investigation Division of the Gyeonggi Southern Police Agency contacted the Jeju Police Department.
I informed them of this and started tracking Suspect A. Subsequently, Uijeongbu Police Station learned that Suspect A was residing within its jurisdiction, and immediately dispatched detectives to investigate.
Suspect A was immediately arrested around 11:00 p.m. After investigating Suspect A's home and mobile phone, no items related to terrorism were found.
Suspect A told police, ``BJ said he was going to be on a plane, so I made the comment as a joke.''
A police official said, ``In response to Suspect A's comments, we deployed a police special attack team to search the airport,'' and ``We will definitely arrest and punish anyone who posts threatening messages that cause anxiety to the public.''
