``Boeing 737 MAX'' with part of the aircraft falling, ``domestic airlines ordered to inspect the structure'' = South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism
South Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (equivalent to Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism) announced on the 7th that it has sent an official letter to five domestic airlines operating the Boeing 737 MAX 8, instructing them to conduct structural inspections.
This is due to a recent incident in which a part of the fuselage of a Boeing passenger plane that was flying over the United States fell off and made an emergency landing.
Prior to this, on the 5th (local time), a Boeing 737MA belonging to Alaska Airlines carried 171 passengers and 6 crew members.
The X9 was scheduled to fly from Portland, Oregon to Ontario, California. However, immediately after takeoff, when the airliner reached an altitude of 4,876 meters, part of the fuselage and windows were damaged.
The plane fell and made an emergency landing 20 minutes after takeoff. The Boeing 737 MAX 8 currently in operation in South Korea is a different model from the MAX 9 involved in the accident, but the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has taken preemptive measures to ensure safety.
We sent an official letter instructing a structural inspection of the entrance/exit. Currently, there are no airlines in South Korea that operate the MAX9, the aircraft involved in the accident.
A total of 14 aircraft are in operation: 4 Easter Airlines, 2 T'way Air, 2 Jeju Air, and 1 Jin Air.
A Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism official said, ``Although this is a different model from the one involved in the accident,
As a pre-emptive measure, we have sent an official letter instructing them to inspect the entrances and exits."
