According to South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two sides discussed issues such as U.S.-South Korea relations, Japan-U.S.-South Korea cooperation, and North Korea issues.
Regarding the issue of North Korea, both sides shared views and concerns regarding the threat posed by North Korea, and strongly condemned North Korea's illegal nuclear and missile development, provocations, and military cooperation, including arms support to Russia.
The two countries decided to cooperate closely in international arenas such as the United Nations. The two sides also said, ``Based on close U.S.-ROK and Japan-U.S.-ROK cooperation, we will resolutely respond to any provocations from North Korea and strive to maintain peace on the Korean Peninsula.''
The two countries agreed to protect stability and to guide the international community in thoroughly fulfilling its obligations under the United Nations Security Council resolutions. Secretary Blinken said, ``I sincerely congratulate Foreign Minister Cho on his appointment.''
I hope that we will continue to communicate closely and further deepen our cooperation to develop the U.S.-South Korea alliance."
