「飲酒状態」で患者を手術した医師、処罰が難しいのはなぜ?
Why is it difficult to punish doctors who operate on patients while under the influence of alcohol?
A doctor in his 20s who performed facial suture surgery while under the influence of alcohol came to light after a patient reported his wrongdoing. Seoul/Gangdong Police Station reported on the 13th that he appeared under the influence of alcohol at around 11pm the previous day.
It has been revealed that Mr. A, a doctor who works at a general hospital in Koto Ward, who performed surgery on a wound, has been arrested. Patient B, who is in his 60s, told the police at around 11:55 p.m. after the surgery, ``The doctor operated on me, but I was under the influence of alcohol.''
"It seems like the situation was bad," he said, reporting the incident as a suspicion. After receiving the report, the police went to the scene and measured Mr. A's blood alcohol concentration, which confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol.
When investigated by the police, Mr. A admitted that he had been drinking, saying, ``I drank beer during dinner.'' However, under current law, there are provisions that penalize medical treatment while under the influence of alcohol.
Since there is no certainty that Mr. A will be subject to criminal punishment. However, if a person engages in ``acts that seriously undermine the dignity of medical professionals,'' their qualifications can be suspended.
