A gas explosion occurred at a coal mine in Anhui Province, China. At around 12:10 pm on the 11th (local time), a gas explosion occurred at a coal mine in Anhui province. At that time, 24 people were inside the mine.
Twenty-two people were working on the mine, and although they managed to escape, two were left behind inside the mine. Eight of the 22 people who escaped were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Seven people have since been confirmed dead.
Two workers are still trapped in the mine and rescue efforts are underway. Local government authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and are making every effort to rescue those whose safety is unknown.
