In particular, the three countries held a Japan-U.S.-South Korea summit meeting in August last year to promote Japan-U.S.-South Korea economic and security cooperation.
They reconfirmed that the summit had become an opportunity for groundbreaking development, and discussed specific plans to make the results of the summit visible at an early stage.
In the supply chain field, Japan, the US and South Korea have a core mineral security partnership.
They discussed ways to strengthen future cooperation in core minerals and supply chain multiformer systems such as the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (MSP) and the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF). In addition, the Japan-U.S.-Korea Early Warning System (E
WS) We decided to move forward with a plan to strengthen collaboration. In core and emerging technology fields, the three countries will promptly promote the conclusion of government agreements to materialize joint research cooperation among national research institutions.
After discussions, we began to explore not only cooperation between academia but also cooperation between industrial organizations in the quantum field. In addition, with the establishment of the South Korean Space and Aviation Agency, cooperation among the three countries in the space field, including satellite navigation, has been strengthened.
Meanwhile, they decided to cooperate so that the Technology Protection Network, a joint system between Japanese, American, and Korean law enforcement authorities, can be launched as soon as possible.
In the digital field, the Korean side is related to AI (artificial intelligence), where South Korea is scheduled to be stationed.
The three countries requested the participation and support of the United States and Japan at the summit, and the three countries decided to strengthen cooperation in global AI governance discussions going forward. Additionally, the three countries are focusing on cyber security, which has been attracting attention recently.
The two companies also decided to cooperate closely on security threats and data security. Meanwhile, the first conference was held in January last year in Honolulu, USA, and the second conference was held in Washington DC in July of the same year.
At the third meeting, which followed the second meeting, Japan, the United States, and South Korea pledged to hold the next meeting at an appropriate time later this year.
