Seoul's Jeongdong Observatory expands opening hours, cafe opens on Sundays - South Korea
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that the Jeongdong Observatory in the first building of the Seosomun City Hall will be open on weekdays from April 1. The Jeongdong Observatory, which opened in 2013,
It was closed after the COVID-19 virus outbreak, but reopened in November 2022 and was previously only open on weekends. The observation deck is taking into consideration the congestion during weekday commutes and lunch times,
It is open from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm on weekdays, and from 9 am to 5:30 pm on weekends. Admission is free.
For the convenience of visitors, a dedicated elevator is available to take visitors directly from the 1st floor to the observation deck on the 13th floor.
Cafe Darak, which is located on the same floor as the observation deck, has been closed on Sundays until now, but from now on will be open on Sundays according to the observation deck's opening hours.
From the northeast side of the observatory, you can see Seoul Plaza, Seoul City Hall main building, Deoksugung Palace, and the Jeongdong area to the northwest.
The observatory also features panoramic photographs and caption plaques with explanations of the main areas and buildings in the Jeongdong area, providing visitors with a glimpse into the modern history and culture of Seoul.
It is expected that it will also serve as an information center to introduce culture.
