According to real-time statistics from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's aviation information portal, Jeju Air carried 3,578,068 passengers on Japan routes last year (17,919,895 in total).
In February of this year, it carried 647,401 passengers, ranking first among all airlines operating Japan-Korea routes.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Jeju Air has been working to secure passenger demand through preemptive restarts and new routes on medium and short-haul routes.
In addition to major cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka, the company is expanding its service to regional routes such as Matsuyama and Hiroshima. In particular, the number of passengers on regional routes in Japan, which began operating at the end of March last year, has continued to rise.
From March of last year to February of this year, Jeju Air carried a total of 276,711 passengers on its Matsuyama, Shizuoka, Oita and Hiroshima routes.
A Jeju Air official said, "Jeju Air has been expanding its routes and flight schedules since the COVID-19 outbreak.
"We have responded more flexibly to the market and expanded consumer choice," he said. "We will continue to strengthen Jeju Air's position as a market-leading airline while also promoting inbound tourism.
"We hope to contribute to revitalizing tourism in Korea."
