Presidential Office: ”UK-Korea joint AISeoul summit to be held next month” = Korea
The Presidential Office announced on the 12th that the Korean government will jointly hold the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Seoul Summit on May 21-22 with the British government.
This is a follow-up to the AI Safety Summit held in January at Bletchley Park in the UK. This summit will focus on AI, which aims to strengthen AI safety while promoting innovation and promoting inclusion and coexistence.
The leaders of each country will discuss a comprehensive plan for the development of AI. The summit will be held online on the evening of the 21st of next month, the first day of the summit. The leaders of each country will discuss issues such as ensuring AI safety, promoting innovation, and leading an inclusive future.
A ministerial-level meeting will be held on the 22nd. Based on the discussions at the summit the previous day, the attending ministers will discuss more detailed plans, such as measures to strengthen each country's AI safety capabilities and sustainable AI development.
To kick off this effort, the government plans to hold an AI Global Forum on the 22nd, inviting senior officials from each country and people from major industries and academia.
The forum was proposed by President Yoon Seok-yeol in his keynote speech at the UN General Assembly last September.
The Presidential Office said, "The AI Global Forum is an AI forum organized by the Korean government.
"We hope that this, along with the Brain Conference, will become a platform that will provide a concrete direction for building new global governance for AI."
