”Sudden death of cat”: South Korea's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs inspects cat food and finds ”nothing unusual”
On the 19th, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of South Korea (equivalent to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan) announced that it had found no unusual findings after testing cat food suspected to be related to the recent sudden deaths of cats.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs conducted testing of three cat food products at a veterinary clinic in Ulsan for 78 types of harmful substances, seven types of viruses, and two types of parasites.
The ministry explained that all results were either "not detected" or "compliant." Separately, the ministry said it had not found any harmful substances in more than 30 cat food cases and cats that had been requested for autopsy testing.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs plans to take measures such as suspending sales and disposing of any products found to have abnormalities.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said, "We will take measures against the five cat food manufacturers for which the need for investigation has been raised.
The local government inspected the manufacturing process and related documents and found no unusual findings."
