Kang Sun-woo, spokesman for the Democratic Party of Korea, said at a briefing at the National Assembly press conference that afternoon, "Today, from 3:30 p.m., for about four minutes, Chairman Lee and President Yoon Seok-yeol spoke on the phone."
He added, "President Yoon extended his congratulations to the Democratic Party's winners (in the general election), including Chairman Lee, and asked about Chairman Lee's health and well-being. Chairman Lee expressed his gratitude."
Kang said, "President Yoon proposed to meet with Lee next week. Lee responded, 'We should meet as soon as possible, as there are many national issues and people's livelihoods are suffering.'"
"The people's livelihood is so difficult that it is not enough to say that they are in a difficult situation. The people are exhausted every day. Regardless of whether they are in the ruling or opposition party, we need to get together and pool our wisdom.
"We hope that this will be an opportunity for a valuable dialogue for the sake of the people's lives," Kang added.
