The South Korean presidential office held talks with the Democratic Party of Korea, the largest opposition party, on preparations for a summit between the leaders of the two parties. A summit would mean a direct dialogue between the president and the leader of the largest opposition party.
On the 23rd at 2pm, Hong Cheol-ho, the Presidential Chief of Staff for Political Affairs, and Cheon Jun-ho, Chief of Staff to the Democratic Party, met to exchange views on the summit.
The presidential office announced in a statement on the same day that, "Secretary-General Cheon and Chief of Staff for Political Affairs Hong will hold a wide-ranging discussion on policies to resolve urgent civilian issues and important national policy issues in relation to the agenda.
"The next meeting between President Yoon and Chairman Lee Jae-myung will be scheduled at a later date," he said.
"We have decided to hold the meeting again after checking the preparations for the meeting," he added.
Chief Secretary Ho and Director of the Government Planning Office Kwon Hyuk-ki attended the meeting.
